In consultation with Escape Mobility, Ikea Netherlands has decided to switch to Escape-Mattress® evacuation mattresses. This will enable visitors who are unable to descend the stairs independently to be evacuated safely and quickly in a lying position.
The evacuation stairs at Ikea are relatively steep and both operators and visitors experience an evacuation in a lying position as more pleasant than an evacuation in a sitting position (evacuation chair).
